Who’s got what this week
Tap a job when it’s done. Your list is yours — you decide when, as long as the day-locked ones (trash Tue) land on time. Life happens: everyone gets 2 free skips or swaps a month — trade a role with your sibling or call a pass on a hard day. Say it out loud, no guilt. A skip taken is not a skip owed forever.
Dinner
Cook doesn’t clean. The cook wipes their own pots and pans as they go; everyone else clears the table, does the eating dishes, wipes down, and puts leftovers away. Wednesday is leftovers / easy on purpose (therapy run).
The one rule
“If it doesn’t need doing, it doesn’t get done.” No busywork. But some things you can’t see going wrong until it’s bad — those run on the calendar, not your eyes. Here’s the test:
👀 Conditional
“Can I see the need before it’s a problem?” → Yes. Trust your eyes.
- Run the dishwasher — only when it’s full
- Sweep the kitchen — only if there are crumbs
- Clear the island — only if stuff’s on it
- Mow — only if it’s actually growing
- Wash the car — only when it’s dirty
Not full? Not dirty? You’re done. No guilt.
📅 Unconditional
“Can I see the need before it’s a problem?” → No. Trust the calendar.
- Trash to the curb — Tuesday, every week, no matter what
- Bathroom hygiene clean — germs don’t announce themselves
- Towels & sheets — they look fine long after they aren’t
- Vacuum / dust — buildup is invisible till it’s gross
- Feeding people — dinner happens every day
“Looks fine” is not a reason to skip these.
